Technology giant Apple Inc. has sold 3 million of its newest touchscreen tablet computer iPad after it was introduced in the US market three months ago. Meanwhile, the company is expecting the sales will continue to break record since the device is yet to be introduced in Singapore, Ireland, Hong Kong, Mexico, New Zealand, Belgium, and Luxembourg in July.
iPad allows users to do web surfing, read electronic books, watch video, listen to music, play games, and use other mutli-media features.
“The company is working hard to make this product available to these nine countries…we are aiming that this device will be in the hands of more people around the world”, Steve Jobs said Tuesday.
With the unprecedented popularity of iPad, Jobs said that Apple software developers have created more than 11,000 applications for this computer tablet.
Meanwhile, Apple is also expecting that its new iPhone model, which will be available on Thursday, will also break record. This belief is reflected by some analysts who believe the company is set to post its strongest product sale in the history of the technology industry.
Last week, the technology giant said that they received more than 600,000 pre-orders for the iPhone 4 which is the largest number in a single day. This trend prompted some analysts to believe that the smartphone’s sales will reach to 44 million units this year and 55 million million in 2011.
In a statement, research analyst Clyde Montevirgen said that “Apple has successfully transformed itself into the leading technology company in the market”, adding that the California-based company “has effectively expanded its global market and has outperformed its competitors from different hardwares including smartphone, laptops, and computer tablets.”
As iPad is outperforming its rivals, Amazon has lowered the price of Kindle e-reader to $189 from $259 while Barnes & Noble has dropped the price of Nook to $199 from $149. Meanwhile, some technology experts that the price of other related products will also drop to compete with the popularity of iPad.
