Technology giant Apple Inc. said it will launch a product event on September 1 that will be held in Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. While the company did not reveal the purpose of the event, some technology analysts said it might introduce new line of iPod Touch, one of the most popular multi-media players today.
Traditionally, the technology giant introduces new features on its multi-media player every September in an effort to prepare for the influx of shoppers on the holiday season in which the sales of electronic gadgets are expected to rise.
In an interview with Enderle Group technology analyst Rob Enderle said that “it might be the time for Apple to update its iPod Touch and introduce new features.”
Enderle added that Apple is “expected to upgrade almost all the features of iPod except the radio signal.” His statement is reflected by some analysts who said the
company might include the iPhone 4’s features such as the high-resolution screen and video chat to the multi-media player.
Enderle said that there is a “growing speculation on Apple’s plan to introduce mobile television that will use Google’s technology.”
Just recently, Google has developed a television platform in partnership with other technology bigwigs including Intel, Sony, and Logitech in an effort to provide mobiles users with “continuous access to television programs.
In a previous interview, Google officials have said that their “mobile television platform succeeds on the features failed to deliver by Apple TV.”
With the introduction of Google’s new television platform, some technology analysts believe that this feature will be adopted by Apple since mobile users today are not just lured by surfing but also by television entertainment.
The Google TV is powered by Chrome Web browser and Google’s Android software. This feature can be accessed using set-top boxes from Logitech that connect the Internet to existing television sets or Web-enabled TV sets from Sony which are yet to be introduced to the market.
Logitech and Sony announced that the televisions and set-top boxes will be introduced in the holiday season in US and will be made available to the international market next year.
