Alienware, a computer hardware manufacturer, has recently introduced its widescreen computer monitor during the annual Consumer Electronic Show (CES). The Alienware 2880 x 900 model is a curve-shaped widescreen display which provides a maximum gaming experience to its users since it features high-definition content and high-quality audio system.
This monitor is designed to further maximize gaming experience especially interactive games with shooting themes. The monitor uses Digital Light Processing (DLP) which provides smooth images with perfect geometry and outstanding grayscale linear feature. It also removes the possibility of phosphor burn-in.
Using a replaceable light source, DLP provides longer life than CRTs and Plasma TV. And with two projectors, users are provided with full color stereoscopic images via polarized process. And unlike Plasma and LCD, DLP screens do not use fluids as its medium for projection. This means that DLP provides unlimited inherent mirror mechanism, making it highly-suitable for high-definition theater movies.
This technology also reduces “screen door effect”, a problem experienced by LCD projectors. Usually great with ANSI contrast, DLP rear projector TVs are lighter and thinner compared to CRT projectors. It is also much cheaper compared to Plasma flat-panel or LCD.
This prototype features OLED illumination which provides less than .02-millisecond time response. The screen is made up of four sub-panels which comes slightly notice since there are faint lines vaguely apparent when scrutinized closely.
The screen display measures 42.4-inch wide and 12.6-inch tall while providing a 90-degree view. The monitor also provides high-resolution features that can reach for up to 2880 x 900, allowing crystal-clear images and video content.
Alienware is an American computer hardware company and a subsidiary of Dell Computer Corporation. This company focuses on manufacturing computers which are designed to support features that provide video editing, audio editing, and gaming. The company also manufactures computer accessories such as headsets and keyboards.
In 1996, Nelson Gonzalez, CEO and Alex Aguila, COO, founded the company which is now based in Miami, Florida.
