With the overproduction of electronic gadgets today, there are many novelty devices out in the market which try to compete with other more useful products by luring customers with its gobbledygook purpose.
One of the most recent novelty devices is called CallMe Prism-I which is a solar-powered programmable LCD display screen that can store 10 phone numbers, a paltry storage capacity compared to most electronic devices which can store tremendous amount of data.
This device has been specifically designed to be placed at the car’s rear window so that the other drivers or passengers from the nearby vehicles can see the users’ phone number. With a built-in suction cap, this portable screen display can easily be mounted on a car’s window.
This device features a small LCD screen which can accommodate 13 digits. It also has a backlight which comes in three colors, namely, green, blue, and sky blue. In case that the device is exposed from a low light environment, the backlight system will automatically operate.
While the device no longer requires external power source since it relies on solar energy, it features a battery system which serves as a power backup in case there is no sunlight due to cloudy condition or because it is night time.
While this device has been invented and designed to provide paltry or trivial purpose, it is somewhat intriguing if someone is willing to display his/her phone numbers and hope for the best that the people who will see the displayed number are only those who are good-looking ones. And if there’s really a chance that they will see this, will the user have an assurance that someone is willing to take an extra effort to jot down the displayed number, especially during road travel?
Some critics also suggest that there are other more reliable medium of communication which can provide more interaction between two people, making this device seemingly obsolete.
The CallMe Prism-I comes at a price of $26 and can be purchased from the company’s website and other major online retail stores.

I would agree with you – the technology is good but it’s purpose here is pointless – why would anyone want to display their number in the back window?
If you saw a number flash up in someone back window wouldn’t you just question that person’s sanity?
Still good gadget though, just poor purpose!
