The much awaited UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) from HP was finally announced Officially. Specs of this small baby though nothing to be proud of, are pretty ok for an UMPC. Some available Configurations are :
Processor VIA Ranging from 1 GHz to 1.6 GHz
8.9 WXGA LCD Screen
4Gb SSD (Solid State Device) or 120Gb HDD
Wifi
3 Cell or 6 Cell Battery
Linux or Windows
The Mini-Note 2133 is available in the above configuration which ranges from $499 to $749. The 499$ Model comes with a 4 Gb SSD which is very low for any actual use but will definitely extend battery performance. This comes pre-loaded with OpenSUSE Linux.
The other 3 available configurations are having regular Hard Disk Drives of 120 Gb but speed ranges from 5200rpm to 7200rpm.
The Hard Disk based ones can handle upto Vista Home. These UMPCs don’t seem capable enough to run the more advanced Aero Effects provided by the Home Premium and Ultimate versions of Vista.
The Launch Date for this device is not yet announced. Do keep checking back for more info on this…..
