This is the ZPC-GX31, it’s basically a PC built into a normal sized keyboard, and in fact you probably wouldn’t even realize there was anything different about it unless someone pointed it out to you. It’s a novel idea, but it’s hard to say whether the idea will catch on or not. The fascinating thing is that they haven’t just pieced any old PC in there; it’s actually not a bad spec. You can customize and order specific requirements online, but as an example you could get an Intel Core Duo processor and a DVD-RW drive.
The main and obvious advantage to owning one of these all-in-one PC’s is that it takes up so much less room than a standard tower PC. Imagine how much left over space you would have if you only had this keyboard and a monitor on a desk, no clutter and no mess. Another advantage is that you can customize these keyboards to specifically how you want them, giving you more control over what you get. Say you wanted to move offices or take your work home? No problem, unplug the monitor and take it how with you, there’s nothing really stopping you.
There are some draw backs to this unique product though. Obviously there is only so much space inside this keyboard casing the have so it’s pretty limited to what you can actually do or have inside it, this could affect its specification and features. But my main complaint is why not just purchase a laptop, they are much cheaper, much easier to carry around and you don’t have to buy a separate monitor. It just seems as though this company has tried to create a problem which has already been solved by the laptop, maybe a backward step, but that’s just my opinion.
You would have to say it’s a pretty impressive idea and pretty impressive they have actually managed to put a whole PC inside a keyboard. It really hasn’t won me over and I’m not sure if it has a future in the industry, but it could turn out to be one of these cult products. The specs are actually quite good considering how much space they have to work with there so this could swap people’s opinion, but as I said earlier, why not just buy a laptop instead?
