Hewlett-Packard has recently introduced its latest desktop computer called Compaq 8000f Elite which the company claimed as a device that has been designed to “support low carbon economy” while offering reliability and high performance to meet the needs of small to large-scale businesses.
In a statement, HP Senior Vice President Stephen DeWitt said the company aims to introduce new products that feature advanced technologies complemented with environment-friendly design in an effort to spread “green awareness”.
According to the company, the new desktop has been designed to be power-efficient as it uses 30 percent less energy compared to older HP computers. This feature is made possible with unique configurations including the Power Assistant Software.
To complement this energy-efficient desktop, consumers may purchase the new 19- or 22-inch monitors which have no mercury and other known substance which can have a negative effect to the environment. These monitors also use WLED Technology in the backlit panels to further lower the energy consumption.
Another notable feature of the Compaq 8000f is the Protect Tools that supports technologies that will prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data with the use of smart cards, drive encryption, and fingerprint readers.
Because the computer is a business machine, the Compaq 8000f allows people to use different kinds of business-oriented programs and simple interface which can be adjusted to power-saving, power-saving, and standby modes.
Meanwhile, the desktop computer uses 3GHz Core 2 Duo E8400 which is enough for a wide array of business needs. And since this processor uses Intel vPro Technology, this computer is ideal for businesses which need a reliable tool to store their sensitive data.
However, one downside is the paltry 160GB hard drive which is quite surprising for a business computer. Meanwhile, the desktop uses 2GB of DDR3 SDRAM which may be considered quite acceptable.
These are the other features of the business computer: DVD burner, six USB ports, serial PS/2 ports (for keyboard and mouse), microphone jack, headphone jack, VGA connector, gigabit Ethernet port, and DisplayPort connectors.
According to the company, the new product will come at a starting price of $849 and is available in the US market.
