LG Electronics has announced its new Android tablet computer which will be available in the market in the last quarter this year. But unfortunately, the company failed to reveal even the most basic specs of this device—much to the disappointment of technology bloggers and consumers.
In its press release, LG just said that it will introduce a tablet computer that aims to compete with Apple iPad which has already sold more than 3 million units just three months after it was introduced in the US market.
And because it is willing to compete with iPad which sells like hotcakes, the Korean-based company seems like it is going to simulate the tactics used by Apple to stir controversy—keep people waiting for the specs until they are so eager to buy one. However, this may not work for LG and other technology companies which like to simulate the marketing strategies employed by Apple.
First and foremost, Asus and MSI have already done such strategies and their products were simply ignored by consumers who have always want “fast information”. These companies should remember that such tactics only work for Apple which has proven itself as the maker of “intelligent” and “aesthetically-enhanced” products which become the status symbol for most people.
Unfortunately, LG seems to commit the same mistake of ASUS and MSI. And things might get worse since some technology bloggers have previously criticized the company for its “not-so-durable” and interactive products particularly its old phones that have a screen which can be easily scratched by finger nail.
Meanwhile, some technology writers and analysts predicted that LG’s new Android tablet will be smaller compared to iPad and will use an older version of the Android platform.
However, some bloogers said that there is nothing wrong with a “incomplete” product announcement since this tactic can stir excitement just like what happened in iPad.
