These days Wifi Media Streaming is catching on…but people are still reluctant to buy Wifi Streaming Devices due to its complexity and uneven performance. So people still opt for a more reliable way of watching their Media on Large Screen LCDs by using USB based HDD medium. by using an USB Medium it becomes easier to Transfer Data from Multiple PCs and also use the Device for storing other files.
Lomega’s latest ScreenPlay HD Media Extender is the first in the Industry to have n HDMI Out port. The HDMI interface ensures your SD video will be upscaled to 720p or 1080i digitally. Component & composite video remain as lower end output options.
The design also is pretty good and decent enough to keep aside your LCD/Plasma Screen.
The device comes with a 3.5″ 500Gb of Storage Space enough to store almost your entire DVD Collection ! The inbuilt Video Decoder supports most common formats like MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (AVI/VOB) and MPEG-4 (DivX3-5/XviD). Support for the most commonly used H.264 Compression is not yet there. Most of the Apple HD Videos and iPod encoded media are H.264 based.
Whats more interesting is that this HDMI Equipped Media Extender retails for ONLY $218 which is a real steal !

I have been using this product for more than 2 months. The product is highly beneficial for those people who prefer to have a storage device which can work like a media player.
I download a lot of films and normally they are in AVI format. Instead of having to burn them to disc before being able to watch them on the Big Screen (TV) which used to take a couple of hours to first convert the AVI file and then burn to disc. I can now just copy or cut and paste the AVI file to the screenplay and plug it into the TV, job done. Able to watch the film as soon as I have downloaded it.
