The Olympus PEN E-PL1 is a compact camera that features a new technology called Live Guide Interface that will allow novice photographers to capture impressive photos by offering a great option of settings. This technology is then complemented with Image Stabilizers that can correct camera shake caused by unsteady hands.
Just like most advanced compact cameras, this Olympus model has been designed with high-definition movie recording capability that is partnered with Live Guide System that offers different settings.
According to some photographers, the E-PL1 has features that are between those found in digital-SLRs and compact cameras, making this the ideal option for consumers who want to enjoy professional image features but are weary of the bulkiness and complexity associated with this kind of camera.
Another notable feature about this 12.3-megapixel camera is the TruePic V Engine that can support up to ISO 3200, significantly higher exposure compared to most compact cameras today.
Because the E-PL1 is designed with SLR-like features for amateur users, it has automatic settings and modes that will help people with limited photography skills to come up with great shots. Further complementing the user-friendliness of this compact camera is the 2.7-inch HyperCrystal LCD that features i-Enhance that makes the color appear more vivid in the screen.
To help novice users in adjusting the right setting for a certain subject, the camera uses an i-Auto mode. With this feature, it will be easier to capture great images even in challenging light conditions.
The camera also boasts a built-in image editing tool called e-Portrait that allows users to correct “weak” spots in the image such as skin impurities, shadows, and pale colors.
With all the advancement in image technologies, E-PL1’s six Art Filters are probably the most notable since these can allow users to harness their creativity from making HD films. For example, the camera has Pop Art mode that mimics Warhol’s visual art; and Gentle Sepia that makes a film appear quaint and romantic.
