Technology giant Panasonic on Wednesday has introduced its first 3D camcorder for consumers who want to record birthdays, weddings, and other important occasions with a different perspective.
With this new product, the company is expecting that consumers would be exited since it will complement the growing number of 3D televisions and 3D movies in the market. Currently, there are numerous 3D TVs but there is a scarcity of 3D content to complement such products.
Panasonic said the new 3D camcorder will come at a price of $2,000 which it claimed as cheaper compared to professional 3D camcorders available in the market today.
The company’s camcorder boasts an 18x Optical Zoom Technology which is ideal for close-up (without affecting the image quality). Another notable feature is the 3-inch touch-sensitive screen for easy navigation and a more convenient viewing experience.
When it comes to physical design, Panasonic’s 3D camcorder looks just an average digital camera. However, it uses a slightly bigger 3D conversion lens which is sold separately.
According to the company, the 3D camcorder will be available on August 20 in Japan and would be later introduced in the US and European market later this year. However, the 3D conversion lens will be only introduced in the fourth quarter (Panasonic did not reveal the exact price of this camera accessory).
In an interview with reporters, Panasonic executive officer Shiro Nishiguchi said the new product “is going to be a content killer” since it will allow people to watch their own recordings.
Meanwhile, the company has recently introduced its eight 3D televisions and 3D glasses which come in four designs.
Panasonic’s 3D camcorder will be compatible with its rival companies’ televisions such as Samsung Electronics Co. and Sony Corp.
The 3D Technology works by sending a different image to the left and right eyes that would construct a vivid and depth-rich picture. This image projection almost simulates the human brain’s ability to construct pictures.

This looks great, are there any consumer reviews on your site? It will be fun to see the 3d screen that doesn’t require glasses! Very exciting technology, thanks!
