T-Mobile, a German mobile network operator, has recently announced its newest service and device called Cameo which is an electronic picture frame designed to support SIM card (as those used in cell phones).
This device is much like the Parrot DF7700 which was released during the first quarter of the year, featuring the same concept of SIM-card ready digital photo frame.
This is how the digital photo frame can receive photos: people can simply send pictures with the use of cell phones, and all they have to do is dial the number of the photo frame so this can receive the images sent.
In terms of picture quality, Cameo has been designed to support images which come in high definition features. With a TFT display screen that has 720 x 480 pixel resolution, plus a capacity to support pictures which have 262,144 colors, users can enjoy well-detailed, vivid, and more realistic images.
The picture frame allows various connectivity which include mini USB port for transferring images from computers; wireless capability which allows users to send pictures via mobile phones; SD/MMC card slot which allows users to transfer images from their digital cameras; and dual band GPRS class 10 which allows people to send pictures using their digital phones.
Another impressive capability of this device is that it can receive MMS messages much like those typical cell phones. (But the difference is that people cannot make messages using this digital photo frame because it lacks keypad/keyboard.)
Other features are: landscape and portrait capability which allows people to adjust the angle and rotates the pictures; adjustment for brightness; and adjustment for backlight.
In terms of compatibility, the photo frame has been designed to support photo formats which include JPEG and GIF.
The only downside of this photo display is that it can only store up to a maximum of 500 pictures, a number which seem to be paltry in this growing trend of big memory capacity featured by most electronic device in the market nowadays.
While the exact pricing of Cameo digital photo frame has not yet been revealed, a source said that it would be around $100.

The fact you could be sent images by relatives who are traveling that would display on your frame I think is a really novel and exciting concept.
However, will it take off?… I have my doubts. Certainly with the limited on board storage space.
