Xbox 360 Price Cut Increases Sales by 40%
Mar

If you are an Xbox 360 fan or a gaming fan for that matter, you will have noticed that there have been plenty of prices cuts lately and makes it the best value for money next-generation games console on the market. If you shop around you can find a great deal. Xbox have recently claimed that these price cuts have created a huge wave of new customers, an increase of around 40% to be precise. There have been around 18 million sales worldwide since its launch in 2005 according to Microsoft. If these figures are to be believed, it seems these price cuts are helping the Xbox 360 compete with the Playstation 3.
The Xbox 360 was launched in 2005 under a huge crest of excitement with people queuing around the streets to get their hands on one on the launch day. Microsoft were heavily criticised in the Xbox 360’s early days, a huge amount of people suffered the dreaded ‘ring of death’, a major technical fault in the console’s hardware which shut the system down completely, but it seems the console has gone from strength to strength after this fault was resolved and of course the price cuts were introduced. Many people are drawn to the 360 because of the Xbox Live features which allows the user to download exclusive content for their games, movies and music.

Playstation 3 Gets Blue-Ray Live Support and More…
Mar
The PS3 is inching closer to becoming the ‘all-singing-all-dancing’ heart of the living room with its forthcoming firmware update. The v2.20 firmware update at the end of the month will eclipse the recent – and disappointing - v 1.17 update by adding support for the eagerly awaited BD Live, the advanced playback technology used on newer Blu-ray movie discs.
The update supports the latest Blu-ray Disc (BD) Profile 2.0, which includes BD Live, allowing users watching a Blu-ray movie to check the Net for related downloadable content, trailers, ringtones and movie-based games. Only newer, standalone Blu-ray players have this while owners of older Blu-ray players are, well, pretty much screwed.
