As technology companies are tapping the lucrative market of flat screen television, Sony Inc. has made sure that its products offer the best image display technologies and intuitive interface to make its TVs “intelligent” and highly interactive which is a far outcry from the boob-tube box.
As a quintessential of “intelligent” technology, Sony Bravia XBR9 series features a 46-inch screen display that supports the latest image technologies including the full high-definition 1080p resolution for real-life images. Complementing this feature is the Motionflow 240Hz refresh rate which delivers fluid pictures—something important for watching sports and fast-paced action scenes.
In addition, the HDTV has the latest screen technology called Live Color Creation which makes red and green appear deeper to make the whole image more vibrant and natural. This technology is then partnered with Bravia Engine 3 digital video processor that further enhances the color, makes the line more detailed, reduces the visual noise, and supports Blu-ray disc players.
Just like most interactive televisions out in the market today, this Bravia model allows users to connect to the Internet through LAN connection. With this feature, people can access popular video sharing websites like YouTube and Amazon Video On Demand and online contents from providers like Sports Illustrated, Sony Music, Epicurious.com, Slacker, and Sony Pictures.
To personalize the viewing experience of consumers, this television supports Internet Widgets that will allow them to access the latest news, sports, entertainment, and weather. (This application widget can be installed in the screen to allow easy and convenient access.)
Another notable feature of this Bravia model is that it provides PC-like capabilities as it supports photos (different image formats), music, videos, and slideshows, thus allowing consumers to share these to their families and friends in a wider screen rather than in a computer monitor.
Meanwhile, one trivial downside of this HDTV is its lack of parental control on the Internet which may be a problem to some people who are living with small children. However, if this television will be placed in a communal area such as a living room, perhaps such problem will be addressed.
