Sony Ericsson has recently introduced its latest mobile phone called Elm that features a chassis made from recycled materials and without lead or any harmful chemicals. This “green” feature is complemented with low power consumption and small packaging in line with the company’s goal to reduce carbon footprint.
Furthermore, the phone has a splash-resistant chassis that protects the internal parts from getting wet. However, this does not mean that the device can be submerged underwater as it has not been designed to accommodate high pressure from water.
In terms of interactive technology, the mobile phone allows users to connect to popular social networking sites Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter to get updates from their friends and use the sites’ applications. In addition, the phone also has Internet capability and supports web feeds that deliver the latest news and blogs from different websites.
Just like multi-media phones, Elm has a built-in camera that features advanced image technologies including 5-megapixel resolution and auto focus for clear and noise-free photos; digital zoom of up to four times; face detection technology that automatically sets the focus of a subject’s face; smile detection that automatically snaps a picture after detecting a person’s smile; photo fix to directly edit photos; photo flash and video light to support images in low-light condition; geo-tagging capability for putting information to every photo; video recording capability; and photo feeds to connect to photo blogs.
Another impressive multi-media feature is the built-in music player which boasts TrackID, a technology that automatically recognizes a song, its artist, and album, allowing users to categorize their music data. Other impressive features of the music player are Mega Bass for clear and noise-free sounds and Bluetooth stereo for wireless connection of music listening.
For business travellers, the phone’s GPS tools will allow them to easily locate their destinations as long as they will subscribe in location-based services. Meanwhile, this navigational tool has a geo-tagging function that allows people to personalize the maps by putting their favorite points-of-interest.
Other features are organizer tools, FM radio, email capability, Bluetooth connectivity, and 3D games support.
