For those people who are looking for the ultimate tool for espionage, Swann Communications recently unveiled its latest device called Swann PenCam DVR which is a spy camera under the disguise of ball-point pen.
The built-in camera is located inside the head of the pen which have been designed to be fully concealed, making this spy camera seemingly innocuous in appearance.
This “all in one” surveillance system features an internal 2GB memory, allowing people to store videos which can last up to 3 hours. With this capability, the storage capacity is outstanding considering that it was fitted inside a small pen.
In case that the memory is already full, just simply unbolt the screw from the pen and open its inside to reveal the USB connector. After opening the inside of the pen, plug the connector to a computer to save the video recordings.
According to Swann Communication Vice President Guy Pithie, the internal memory is the highlight of this spy device because of the challenges which faced the company in designing a storage system which can fit inside the pen.
In terms of audio support and features, the spy camera has a built-in microphone which can capture sound feedback up to three feet. While this capability may seem be paltry, it should be considered that the microphone should be really small to fit inside the pen.
The spy camera has also been designed to allow people to easily transfer the video recordings to computers in order to upload the images to video-sharing web sites such as YouTube, Hulu, or Metacafe.
This device uses a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery which can last up to 90 minutes. Meanwhile, this spy camera can be recharged by plugging this to a USB port of a computer or laptop.
According to the Swann Communications, the spy camera will come at a suggested retail price of $120 and will be made available in Swann’s company site and other major online retail stores.

A nice little unit, good quality video still works well in lower light with some loss diffinition.Audio has a slight ring to it as though it has been passed through a narrow band audio filter, but is still intelligable. The pickup range
on the DVR 421 is far in excess of the one meter claimed for the DVR 420. These comments relate to unit i obtained from Maplin Electronics
