The world’s first motorbike which features the most cutting-edge technology was developed by the collaborative effort of Intel, Orange County Choppers, and Black Diamond.
The concept is to converge different technologies and install it on a bike to attain the highest possible performance. SwitchBack PC is the result of many years of developing a computer system that can be attached on a bike. This development has yet to be improved to become durable enough to survive in extreme environment. The Black Diamond is already working on its improvement that will make the Switchback PC weather-proof, shock-proof, and dirt-proof.
The bike features outstanding innovative design such as fingerprint recognition system and hi-tech dashboard which features complete information system that includes various kinds of processors and web communication access.
Another amazing feature of the bike is a camera strategically placed behind the rider to make him see what’s behind him. This latest innovation eliminates the need to have rear view mirrors. Featuring a wireless connectivity which includes Wi-Fii, BlueTooth technology, and GPS, the motorcylce is set to revolutionize the concept of bike-riding.
Justin Dyster, president of Black Diamond, said that everything on the bike is integrated with the computing device. He further explains that their company is using a custom paint scheme and is planning to improve the overall performance of SwitchBack with the use of the latest Intel® Core™ Duo processor which provides cutting-edge innovations and technologies.
The bike features a viewable digital dashboard which displays important vehicle indicators such as speedometer, fuel and oil gauges, battery life, tachometer, and turn signals.
The Black Diamond also installed StreetDeck* infotainment software which allows integration of video and audio applications such as Wi-Fi connectivity that allows quick traffic updates and web access; GPS navigation system for easy traveling, and touch screen radio and MP3 files. All these features are highly-integrated with the headset system (found in the helmet) and handlebars.
The SwitchBack PC features a longer battery life that can be recharged while the rider is on the go. This allows the user to have full battery charge every time the UMPC is detached from the motorcycle.
