WowWee’s unique new robot, the Roboquad, is probably the most inventive working robots available to the public. This animated robot which features multi-colored attractive lights and fantastic sound effects is not only the first genuine robotic arthropod, but is also an award-winning one as well. It received the Gold Seal Award at the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio and the 2007 Outstanding Product title at the iParenting Media Awards to name a couple.
What may make this robot so special? Well this four legged robot, as the name Roboquad suggests is unlike any of the other toys by WowWee. First off, you aren’t limited to only controlling its movement because you can also control its mood as well! By switching up the Roboquad’s Awareness, Activity, or Aggression levels, you can altogether change its personality and behavior. Doing this can also affect how the robot reacts with its environment like how it looks around, walks, or sounds. It also can be set to Autonomy, giving it the freedom to explore its environment on its own.
Another feature which sets the Roboquad apart from the rest of the WowWee products and other robots is its sensor. The Roboquad is not at all limited to just one touch sensor. It instead consists of both a light sensor and a sound sensor. It has a microphone for auditory input and an infrared receiver and an IR transmitter for sight. These advanced sensors give the Roboquad the power to scan areas with a range of up to ten feet! It can look for obstacles and avoid them or sense a moving object and chase after it, which suggests that it can actually make for quite an effective guard.
The Roboquad has 72 pre-programmed functions and can program up to 40 other movements as well. It designed to be sleek and agile, allowing it to move easily around your house or whatever environment it’s in. With its six different motors, the Roboquad is given the ability to move in many unique and unexpected ways. Truly, despite its initial oddness, the Roboquad delivers something unique and likeable at the same time. With its many functions, innovative design, and stunning features, it is no wonder why it has won so many awards.
